Join Rev. Dale Suggs, pastor of BELOVED San Diego, for a different kind of Bible study experience!
During Lent, we will be taking a closer look at the Bible stories of Jesus’ last week in Jerusalem. But we won't be just reading and understanding the stories — we'll be discovering how narratives from the Bible intersect with our personal stories. God meets us at these intersections and invites us to put our faith into action in concrete ways.
We are all shaped by narratives — cultural, familial, religious, historical parental, social, and even internal. As Dr. Karen Scheib writes, “We not only have stories. We are stories!” Looking at the Bible together, we will explore the overarching narratives woven throughout the Bible — narratives that tell us who God is, who we are, and who we are in relationship with God, the world, our neighbors, and even ourselves.
We'll question together the stories we all know and even take for granted, as well as the Bible stories used in the “culture wars” around us. We'll explore how they shape our lives as individuals and as a faith community.
If you’ve ever walked out of a Bible study and thought to yourself, So what? this Bible study is answering that question! Leave each week with a personal invitation from God to reshape your words and actions moving forward.
